NOTE: For Shop Pay Users

Even if a customer with a Shop Pay account completes the account deletion process via Delete Me, we have observed cases where they are still able to log in and make purchases using a masked email address linked to their Shop Pay account.

 

Note

  • In addition to deletion on Shopify via Delete Me, customers must delete their own Shop Pay account separately.
  • Only customers who own a Shop Pay account can modify or delete it themselves.
  • Merchants and Shopify apps do not have access to modify or delete Shop Pay accounts or their data at the API level.

Recommended Settings

Due to the reasons mentioned above, it is not possible for merchants or the Delete Me app to modify or delete data related to a customer's Shop Pay account.

 

We recommend updating the message displayed in the storefront popup when a customer clicks the "Delete Account" button, to notify customers using Shop Pay appropriately.

 

How to Setup (For Legacy account users)

  1. Go to Shopify > Online Store > Themes > Customize.

  2. Click the ⚙️ icon > Theme Settings > Delete Me > Confirmation Message to edit the message.

    You can customize the content of the message.

    For example, we recommend using the following:

  3. After editing the message, click Save. The setup is now complete.スクリーンショット 2025-05-01 15.31.01.png

 

How to Setup (For One-time account users)

  1. Go to Shopify > Online Store > Themes > Customize.

  2. Click the Checkout and customer accounts > Profile > Modal Title to edit the message. You can customize the content of the message. For example, “If you have a Shop Pay account, please contact us.”

 

Optional Settings for Shop Pay Users

  • When customers log in via Shop Pay, the tag “Login with Shop” is automatically applied.
  • By adding this tag to the app’s settings, you can prevent Shop Pay users from being deleted via Delete Me.

How to set up

Open Delete Me> Settings> Features> General features> Customer tag to fill “Login with Shop” > Save
